Manager, Pre-sales Engineering

Responsibilities
    The Manager, Pre-sales Engineering will build and manage the Espial Pre-sales team. The team is responsible for partnering with Sales in achieving revenue and profitability targets while driving the technical qualification and closure of all Espial opportunities globally. This role is ideal for someone with 7-10 years of solution sales and technical sales experience selling to Tier 1 or 2 Pay TV operators (Cable, Telco, Satellite) and who is passionate about building a world-class team.
Requirements
  • Assist sales team in the qualification of customer needs and performing pre-demo needs analysis. Perform product demos, both standard and tailored to suspects and prospects.
  • Managing pilots and prototypes.
  • Work with sales team on the execution of specific sales strategies and develop product centric selling strategies. Map a customer’s business and technical needs to Espial’s technology solutions.
  • Respond in writing to customer requirements and Request for Information/Proposal documents. Develop draft services proposals – timeline/cost/risk to include as part of sales proposals
  • Meet customers and deliver product centric presentations. Facilitate effective communications with counterparts in local sales regions.
  • Coordinate with Product Management when customer requirements need feature development; also sharing insights into market dynamics.
  • Perform formal hand-off of closed deals to the Account Team responsibility for implementation.
  • Monitor and manage the technical pre‐sales environments.
  • Responsible for recruiting, training and managing the global pre-sales team
Ideal Candidate Will Also
  • 10+ years experience selling software or systems in a pre-sales role to Pay TV or Telecom operators (telcos, cable, satellite, terrestrial)
  • Proven experience managing a remote team
  • Technical knowledge and depth in the domain of IPTV or digital TV is a strong asset.
  • Solid technical knowledge and understanding of networks, IT infrastructure, client/server software and hardware.
  • Results driven and highly focused on meeting goals and closing deals with sales counterparts.
  • A BA/BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Position will require up to 25% travel.

Software Developer / IPTV Platform Engineer

Responsibilities
    Espial is seeking a Software Developer/IPTV Platform Engineer with software development experience (J2SE) and Linux platform expertise to join our MSP Platform Engineering team and help build and deliver the Espial Media Services Platform (MSP). MSP is a TV service management and delivery solution that enables operators to manage and deliver TV services over managed and internet (OTT) networks to multiple devices including STBs, TVs, tablets, mobiles, and PCs. As part of the Platform Engineering team, you will be responsible for building the Linux (RHEL) infrastructure that meets the performance, reliability and scalability requirements of our IPTV, OTT and Video on Demand customer base. You will help build the configuration management tools for MSP. You will also build and maintain tools to test and monitor the reliability and performance of MSP. Members of the Platform Engineering team also leverage strong system/network troubleshooting skills to liaise with Espial Customer Support to quickly debug and resolve issues in MSP customer environments.
Requirements
    A minimum of 2 years experience in Java programming (J2SE) is required along with strong knowledge and working experience of commercial Linux distributions (RHEL preferred).
  • Demonstrable Java (J2SE) development experience
  • Linux (RHEL) deployment, configuration and/or development experience
  • Working knowledge of Linux networking and/or virtualization technologies
  • Experience building utilities with one or more scripting languages such as Python, Jython, UNIX shell and/or Perl
  • Knowledge of Carrier Grade and High Availability concepts

Technical Support Engineer

Responsibilities
  • Technical Support Ticket tracking & resolution via Web, E-Mail and Phone.
  • Remote login to customer systems to identify and correct or advise on issues.
  • Perform Customer upgrades both remotely and onsite (5-10% travel may be required)
  • Act as a customer advocate within Espial to ensure customer issues are heard and fully understood.
  • Keep customers informed of new products and services available to them, through the successful completion of Espial Product training.
  • Stay apprised of customer upgrade & maintenance cycles and communicate this data to stakeholders at Espial (Engineering, QA, Product Management, Sales)
  • Lead regular status meetings with customer and attend onsite meetings when required.
  • Communicate regularly (outside of support cases) with the customer to evaluate satisfaction and proactively identify upcoming needs.
  • Search for opportunities to generate new revenue through roadmap acceleration, training or consulting.
  • Coordinate with internal technical experts as needed to meet customer needs, while managing customer expectations to prevent overload or missed deadlines.
